The 2024 Latin Flair Gala of the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Celebrating and Supporting the Hispanic Community
On November 8, 2024, the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted its highly anticipated Latin Flair Gala at the Suisun Veterans Memorial Building. The gala, inspired by the Caribbean cultures of Latin America, offered a unique experience that went beyond the predominant Mexican influence in Northern California, celebrating the broader diversity of Latin American cultures.
An Immersive and Culturally Authentic Experience
The tropical theme came alive with vibrant decorations and enthusiastic participation from attendees, who dressed in colorful and festive attire, creating the ambiance of a tropical party reminiscent of celebrations on the East Coast influenced by Caribbean cultures, including Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. The culinary offerings, prepared by La Guagua, a local Chamber member restaurant, included Cuban ropa vieja and tropical chicken with mofongo, giving guests a taste of the rich flavors of Latin America. Music and dancing, integral aspects of Latin American culture, brought the night to life, highlighting the joy and unity at the heart of the celebration.
Recognitions and Community Support
At its core, the gala reinforced the Chamber's mission to empower Hispanic businesses and support students in Solano County. Business awards were presented to recognize outstanding members of the community:
- Business of the Year: Citlalli Brands, for demonstrating exceptional commitment to quality, outstanding community engagement, and setting impactful standards across the region.
- New Member of the Year: Taqueria El Pelayo, for his enthusiastic involvement, vibrant community spirit, and dedication to fostering connections that enrich both the Chamber and the broader community.
- Community Leader: Rosa Gracida, for her unwavering leadership and passionate commitment, which has significantly impacted and inspired others, enriching the community through dedicated service and advocacy.
In addition, four $1,000 scholarships were awarded to local students, reflecting the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to the growth and development of the next generation. The recognition of these recipients was further elevated by the exemplary certificates provided by the local office of State Assemblymember Lori Wilson, who went out of their way to ensure the processing and presentation of these honors, showcasing their strong support for the community.
Overcoming Challenges to Achieve Success
Organizing the gala posed its own set of challenges, with a predominantly volunteer board and one part-time administrative staff member managing much of the workload. However, through the dedication and passion of the team, numerous planning meetings, and strong community partnerships, the gala was both memorable and impactful. The funds raised will support the Chamber’s operations, scholarships, and programs aimed at assisting Hispanic-owned businesses in Solano County, including workshops in Spanish.

The success of the gala was made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors:
