Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Enters New Era with First Full-Time President & CEO

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) proudly announces the appointment of Cruz Avila as its first-ever full-time President and Chief Executive Officer. Avila officially assumed the role on June 22, 2026, marking a historic milestone in the Chamber's continued growth and commitment to serving the business community throughout Solano County.

The creation of the Chamber's first full-time executive position reflects the Board of Directors' vision to expand member services, strengthen business advocacy, cultivate strategic partnerships, and position the organization for long-term regional impact.

Avila brings more than 26 years of executive leadership experience in nonprofit management, organizational development, strategic planning, public policy, and community engagement. Throughout his career, he has successfully led organizations through periods of growth, managed complex operations and budgets, and built collaborative partnerships among businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders.

Most recently, Avila served as Executive Director of Alcohol Justice while continuing to lead his consulting practice, advising cities, counties, states, and nonprofit organizations on strategic planning, organizational leadership, housing, and homelessness initiatives.

"Today marks a defining moment in the history of the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce," said Marbeya Ellis, Chair of the SHCC Board of Directors. "For the first time, our Chamber has a full-time President and CEO dedicated to advancing our mission every day. Cruz brings an exceptional combination of executive leadership, strategic vision, and a genuine passion for building strong communities. The Board is confident that his experience and collaborative leadership style will strengthen our organization, expand opportunities for our members, and position the Chamber for continued growth and long-term success."

Avila said, "I am honored to join the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at such an exciting time in its history. I look forward to working alongside our Board, members, community partners, and elected leaders to strengthen our local economy, create new opportunities for businesses, and ensure the Chamber continues to be a trusted resource throughout Solano County."

The Chamber also extends its sincere appreciation to Ethel Gourian, who has faithfully served as the Chamber's Administrator for the past three years. Through her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the Chamber's mission, Ethel helped build the strong operational foundation that has made this next chapter possible.
