May Mental Health & Foster Care Awareness Month
May is Mental Health & Foster Care Awareness Month! Join the Solano County Office of Education in encouraging all forms of self-care along with creating a safe space to start the conversation surrounding mental health and foster care. Together let's STOP the stigma. During the month of May, the Solano County community will have the chance to learn and explore the following topics surrounding mental health and foster care: You’re Not Alone: (How to access resources, suicide prevention, foster care 101, and foster care misconceptions) It’s Okay to Speak Up: (Who to turn to when support is needed, campus liaisons, healthy relationships, therapy, and starting difficult conversations with family) It’s Okay to Be Me: (LGBTQ+ and identity, youth with disabilities, youth in foster care, and youth experiencing mental health challenges) Together We Can: (Race and equity, cultural sensitivity, and family barriers)
