MOON AZTECA DANCE & ART SCHOOL LAUNCHES 2025 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO PRESERVE CULTURE AND INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION
A Unique Opportunity for Youth to Learn, Dance, and Embrace Their Heritage
Vallejo, CA – The Moon Azteca Dance & Art School is opening doors for young dancers to immerse themselves in the beauty of traditional Mexican folkloric dance with the launch of its 2025 Scholarship Program. This initiative is designed to remove financial barriers for children and youth who are passionate about learning cultural dance, but may not have the resources to participate.
For Maestra Yajaira Rubio Machado, the founder of Moon Azteca, this program is deeply personal. “We don’t want any child to be denied the opportunity to learn about the rich traditions of Mexico just because their family cannot afford it,” she explains. “You don’t have to be Mexican to love and appreciate the culture. This scholarship is about inclusion, education, and giving kids a space to grow.”

🌟 Scholarship Benefits
Selected students will receive:
✅ 6 months of full tuition coverage

✅ Cultural enrichment & mentorship
✅ Personal growth, discipline, and leadership development
Beyond dance, Moon Azteca provides what Maestra Yajaira calls “educational performances”—not just entertainment. “Every class is a journey,” she says. “Students don’t just learn the steps; they learn the history, the meaning behind the music, and the traditions of each region. When we perform, we educate the audience as well.”

💃 More Than Just Dance—A Path to Confidence and Community
For many students, Moon Azteca is life-changing. Yajaira recalls two students who initially refused to perform, feeling shy and hesitant. “They told me, ‘I’m never going to perform!’ And I said, ‘That’s okay, just give me a chance.’ Within a month, they were the first ones signing up for performances, and now they proudly wear their traditional outfits and lead the dances.”
This transformation, she says, is about more than dance—it’s about confidence, discipline, and connection. “We’re keeping kids active, engaged, and giving them a sense of pride in their identity. We want to keep them off the streets, away from negative influences, and help them build a community.”

🤝 How You Can Support the Scholarship
Unlike many programs funded by grants, the Moon Azteca Scholarship is 100% community-driven. It is funded through sales from Yajaira’s business, Lunita’s Kitchen, a home-based bakery where 25% of sales go directly into supporting the program. Additional funding comes from donations, fundraising events, and community support.
