Creating a Path to Success (CAPS) History
Since 1978, the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC) has served as a statewide ethnic business organization advocating, educating, and promoting the economic growth and development of Hispanic entrepreneurs and the needs of their employees. The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce Foundation (CHCCF) was created and incorporated in 2008 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation. The CHCCF works in tandem with the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC) to develop and execute programs that contribute to the capacity and effectiveness of Hispanic organizations, the growth of Hispanic businesses, and Hispanic community, to increase economic opportunities, employment opportunities and a better quality of life for our communities.
In 2004, the CHCC created and executed its first CAPS Program at its annual convention and at every convention since. The program was instituted to prepare Hispanic college students to graduate and enter the workforce. CAPS provides the students with opportunities available to them in business, public service, community insights and entrepreneurial arenas.
To date, over 290 young professionals completed the CAPS program. Coming from throughout California, CAPS are well-educated, dynamic young professionals ready create positive impacts within their communities, contribute to our economy, and empower others to succeed.
